Nature is Neat, Fallow Your Gut
Facts behind the saying "Follow Your Gut" and how you should listen while in the outdoors

At some point in our lives, we may have heard the idiom "follow your gut." As much as this may sound cliché, the reality is, intuition plays a vital role in our decision-making process. Using our gut instincts to make choices may seem irrational or unwise on a conscious level. However, it is a mechanism that has a scientific and evolutionary background, which has, over time, proven to be effective in preventing us from making stupid decisions.
According to scientists, intuition is a response of the unconscious mind that can process information much faster than the conscious mind. This ability is due to the evolutionary development of the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for emotions such as fear or pleasure. When faced with a situation, the amygdala will receive the information and send signals to the body that warn us of potential danger or encourage us to trust our environment. Your body knows more than you do in the outdoors. Listen to what it is saying.
However, intuition is not something that anyone can entirely rely on. It is merely a tool used to help us make quick decisions or determine if something doesn't feel right. For instance, if we are walking alone at night and get a fright from a stranger, our body's fight or flight response kicks in, and we quickly move away. Our intuition is what saved can us from danger.

Nonetheless, when making significant decisions such as investments, employment, or taking on responsibilities, intuition should only play a part in the decision-making process. We should always factor in critical thinking, reasoning, and logic to ensure we make an informed decision. We humans are prone to cognitive errors that can skew our perception or lead us to make incorrect assumptions. Therefore, a combination of intuition and sound judgment can help us make smarter decisions.
In conclusion, following our intuition and gut instincts is always the way to avoid making stupid decisions in the outdoors and Hunting, but it is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It is a mechanism that can serve us well in situations where we need to make fast decisions, but it is always important to evaluate carefully, choose wisely, and apply critical thinking where necessary. It could be a world record trophy around the ridge or a Mama Grizzly. Follow your gut! Be safe in the woods.
